Translucent enamels are applied to glass, one color at a time. Each color is fired into the glass at temperatures above 1100 degrees Fahrenheit so that the enamels become part of the glass. The result is a ruby-throated hummingbird suncatcher that has a lifetime warranty against fading or discoloration.
